Hi all.

Just wanted to get some input on what to do. My drive recently crashed on me, and so I bought a new 320gig HDD. I was searching for my original CD's that came with my macbook, but they are no where to be found. I have a white macbook with dual intel 2.XX? and a 80gig hdd. I was running 10.4.

I have a couple friends that have imacs but run 10.5. Can i use there install disks? Please help, i'm at a loss.

No their system install disks are for iMacs only and are completely different. You could contact Apple Support with details of your machine, when and where purchased etc. but suggest just go out and buy Leopard, or wait until September for Snow Leopard.

There is a guy on craigslist selling off his family pack 10.5 (one reg left) for $80. Would that be good enough?

I've got 3 left on my Family Pack and I'll let it go for $60.

Not.

Don't be scammed by that guy so you can save what, $20-30 instead of purchasing your own copy. The Family Pack is for people in the "same family" living in the same household. (Except they'll let you use it for your kids off at school.)

Call Apple - I've heard it's only around $30 to get them to send you a new set of the original disks and then get Snow Leopard when it comes out. Or for the same money, buy yourself a legitimate copy of Leopard and then get the upgrade of SL when it comes out.

You can get a legitimate copy of Leopard, new at Amazon for $85-$110.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
