hey guys, im new here, ive been having some problems lately with my powerbook g4 17". well to start off, my superdrive is "caved in", it cannot read anything nor will it eject a cd after i put it on. I have a problem with leaning/hitting my powerbook there. im not beating it but an occasional hand slap kind of thing when something doesnt work. anyway, i think i need a new superdrive, they are kind of pricey as well, i need the dual layered one i think, thats the one mine came with. along with the superdrive, the whole top case is bent inwards there too. and to top that off, my trackpad just stopped working, it works on the sides of it but not in the middle. so, do i need to but the whole top case with the trackpad or does anyone sell trackpads seperately? also ive been trying to take apart the topcase and maybe try to bend it back a little but it seems like the previous owner stripped one of the four screws on the side, is there anyway i can take that screw out, its basically round. im not an expert on these things but i can find my way around, ive fixed numerous computers before and replaced a proccesor on my old pismo

Your best bet is to look on ebay for a broken G4, and put your working motherboard and PSU in there

thanks i would have never thought of that! its a lot better than spending 400 dollars
