Hello there,

At the moment I have a PowerBook G4 Aluminium 1.25GHz with OS X 10.5.6 and I was wondering if there is a way to put the laptop to sleep when I close the screen? It doesn't matter if the whole machine goes to sleep or if its just the screen, but I can't find any option at all.

Is this feature hardware based or software based?
Any help will be wonderful! Thanks!!

Mine does automatically, so I can't see why yours won't/doesn't. There is no setting in preferences for it either. Strange.

I don't understand it either! Would it have something to do with the hardware used? Becasue I had a screen replacement recently, and this may have changed something?

I was on OS X 10.4.11, before I upgraded to 10.5.6, and used the follwing apps during then. But these don't seem to be working with Leopard unfortunately.

Anybody got any suggestions?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that the sleep mode must be triggered by a switch either in the hinge or the catch. Replacing the screen may well have disturbed that.
Re the dockables not working, that's a software issue I'm sure. I suspect you just need to get new ones for Leopard.

Thanks for the quick reply, Kevriano. But would you be able to tell me where to get the new dockables from? The ones in the screenshot was given to me by a friend and he doesn't remember where he got it from either.

I Googled it, but the only thing I get is instructions on customising the dock, which I already know how to. Further help will be very much appreciated!!
