Ok.. I have 2 laptops. 1 powerbook G4 with Tiger and one Mac book with Leopard. The Macbook is my main one and the Powerbook I use it as my entertainment centre to play DVDs, itunes, downloads etc. I have been successfully connecting my powerbook to my TV, to play downloaded films etc and have never had any problems. I actually keep a copy of the films on a hard-drive and play them in Quicktime. Anyway, yesterday I logged on and the screen display settings were messed up - I could see, but they were wrong. I checked the display options and for some reason, there were only 3 to choose from. I didn't know how to select the additional displays from the install disk, so did a re-install (but keeping the original accounts/settings). This seemed to work fine and gave me back the display options I'd somehow lost.

I just tried to play a movie, but got the Quicktime error -8971. Following advice elsewhere, I was going to do a re-install of Quicktime, but saw that there were Mac OSX updates needed (I assume due to my re-install of the OS). I did that and now I've lost my displays again and am back to square one and quicktime still gives me the 8971 error.

Can anyone advise on what I should do? The films work fine on the Macbook. How do I get the lost display settings and fix the -8971 error??
QUOTE Thanks
