I have a Macbook Pro A1226, Santa Rosa, 2.2 Ghz Inter Core 2 Duo.

I'm looking into upgrading my hdd. Right now is a Fujitsu 120gb 5400RPM (MHY2120BH). I saw a good price on the Hitachi 7K320 320GB 7200RPM. I'm tempted to buy a bigger 500GB to put in.

What I'm wondering is if 5400RPM or 7200RPM has a difference in performance, heat, etc.? Also goes for the capacity of the hdd. Would the 500GB be much hotter in temperature compared to the 320GB one. Which would be the best choice? My mac now gets hot easily. I don't know how to exactly solve this issue.

Thanks

I have a 7200 RPM that I swap in from a 5400 RPM and I haven't noticed any heat.

Just get the 500GB 7200RPM HDD.

Would the heat be less or just stay the same? Which brand and model would be good?

The heat is the same. Seagate for now is the only one with a 7200 RPM 500 GB HDD.
