I've got a MBP with a 120GB Hitachi drive in it. I picked up a 7200.3 Seagate 320GB 7200RPM drive for about $40.

If I install the hard drive will it void my current applecare? My applecare is good another 9 months and I really don't want to void it. I'd also rather not pay a genius or an authorized apple dealer to install it when I can do it.

Is it a unibody MBP? If the part is user-replaceable (unibodies) then it won't void your warranty. If it's an older MBP then it will.

I'm not sure about it immediately voiding your warranty but I do remember receiving an applecare invoice that said if a user replaced non apple certified part causes a problem with your computer (a short or whatnot) then the applecare is voided.
(I think you'd be fine - if it was me I'd do it especially since you got a SCREAMIN deal on that HD!)

That is like dirt cheap for that HDD, I paid like atleast 3 times that.
