Hi,

This is my first post here so pardon me if I'm asking some repeat questions. I'm attempting to upgrade the hardware for my macbook and my macbook details are here:

Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 1.83 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per processor): 2 MB
Memory: 1.25 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB11.0061.B03
SMC Version: 1.4f12

My hard disk is 80 GB and it's really getting too small. I'd like to know:

1) What kind of hard disk should I get? I mean, how do I shop for one? Does something like "Hitachi 7K200 200 GB 7200 RPM SATA 2.5" Drive" work?

2) Can I upgrade the RAM to 2x2GB? What kind of spec should I look for in the RAM?

3) My battery is dying (it doesn't last more than 15 minutes without plugging in) and I'm wondering brand like Dr. Battery brand is good?

4) Is there a good website that teaches you how to replace the items?

In general, is it ok to get used hard disk and RAM? Because being a poor student I'm trying to spend minimum but at the same time I really do need something more powerful to run some computational intensive application.

Really appreciate any comments anyone may have. Thanks a lot!

Han

For a HDD pretty much any 2.5" SATA will do.

These are just a few of the ones that I would get. It's up to your preference on which brand to get. Western Digital & Seagate are probably the more popular ones. Just a side note, Seagate also has a 7200 RPM 500GB HDD. If you got the money I would recommend that. Probably not the cheapest place to get it, so you might want to look around.

Generally I go here to look things up.
This is memory for your model.

If you look closely you will see that it says your model only support 2GB of RAM max.

Check out ifixit they have guides. You also need some special screwdrivers.
