I recently purchased a 13" MBP and have been on the hunt for a good bag without success. I have bought the STM small Alley and love a lot of things about it, but really don't like the fact that rain could come through the top since it does not really close that well. I also bought a Booq Boa Slimcase and after carrying it for three days am sending it back, the rope trim is fraying and to be quite honest it is not that comfortable to carry, or easy to get into, I loved how organized it was and how compact which is really what I was looking for, but am just not happy with it. So now I'm back on the hunt and using the STM for the time being. I have been looking at the Manhattan Portage bags, but am unsure which of theirs is best for the 13" MBP. Also looked at the Speck PortPack. Any suggestions? Really just looking to carry the MBP, Power Supply, Sm Ext Drive, a few pens and papers and a couple of magazines. I've been down the Timbuk2 road before and did not like how when their bags are not full they sag in the middle and also am not sure which size is the smallest I could get by with in their bags.

Speck SeeThru Satin
Just got my Speck SeeThru Satin cover in black for my 13-inch MacBook Pro! I love it! It's basically a hard shell case on the inside where it attaches to your notebook, but it has a soft feel on the outside... Got it at the Apple Store.. Soooo worth the 50$..
I have seen the Domke line of bags (great camera bags) and I am looking for a small bag to carry my MacBook Pro (13"), power pack, small external HD, pens, a couple of magazines and maybe a notepad, or folder) I have been looking at either the F-808, or the F-802 (really liking the 802 looks like it's thinner which I like since the MBP is so thin), any suggestions, or recommendations?
Choice between sleeves: Zeroshock or Brenthaven Trek?

Which of these two would you use to protect a 13 inch Macbook? I ride my bike everywhere. I'll be slipping the sleeve into a normal (non-laptop) backpack.
1) Brenthaven Trek Laptop Sleeves - Trek Sleeve by Brenthaven
Pros: Brenthaven CORE light protection system (1.5 inches 6 side protection), hard sleeve, lifetime warranty
Cons: 2.5 inches thick, 0.86 lbs
They're about the same price. My confusion as to which to pick is due to the fact that the Brenthaven Trek seems heavier and bulkier but would offer more robust protection than the Zeroshock.

Yea your right on the bulkiness of the Trek Sleeve. Looks nice with the added on features to store other gear in, Problem being the size. Will it fit comfortably into your backpack ??
Where the ZeroShock III looks like it would fit into your backpack without complications. I like this one as you can whip it out open it up and leave MacBook in it while you still work. And works well as a lap pad, saving your legs from heat burns, over time if you need to use it on your lap.
I have similar to the Zero as i travel a little and it is small compact and saves my legs from burn, when i use it on my lap....

Does anyone ever use a hard case and then carry it in a sleeve case like a speck or something? I am new to the macworld and totally overwhelmed as to what case to get. The hard shells seem like they are good if it falls, but the sleeves look good to carry it in. Advice please. Thanks
I have a Speck See-Thru shell and I absolutely love it. I carry my MacBook Pro 13" in a Built NY neoprene zipper sleeve for extra protection. Feel very confident about this set-up.
I am worried about this and didn't see anyone reply to this. I'm going to get the new MBP and wanted to get this case, but I don't want it to ruin the screen, so if anyone is using this, please let me know if it is hurting the computer at all or if it was just the older MBPs that it did it to. Much appreciated!

I use the snap on style myself - seems to protect it well, the only bad part is they are sort of pricey for what they are (about $40). I also use a nice padded laptop case whenever I am transporting outside my house.
so I am thinking about getting the speck satin case, as it has gotten got reviews. there are two things i am concerned about, the stain on the bottom part and also scratches caused by the casing
is this true? have anyone experienced these things?
