My dad managed to destroy my right fan in my 15in MBP (late 2008 non Unibody). Was blowing dust out with air and it shredded all the blades off. Wheres the best place to buy one. He offered to replace it but he thinks the $40 a fan on ebay is crazy and our local store The Orchard (apple store wannabe's) will sell it for $30 but wanna charge a crazy $85 fee for the install.

If he has just destroyed the blades and not the motor, you should be able to disassemble the unit and replace just the blades with some from a standard fan from a PC parts store.

Just take the unit with you and see if you can swap out the fans

I'd have to find a whole new plastic fan and I've never really seen one that looks just like the one in the macs, and there's no pc parts stores around here.

Got a new fan from iFixit. Cheaper than a used one on ebay.

Shipped here in only 3 days! Thats with free shipping. Very Impressed.

I got the fan in with no mishaps and now my lappy is cool again (if you call a supernova cool)
