Hey everyone,

New to the forums.

I recently bought the new aluminum Mac Book and have noticed over the last couple of weeks that some red and white symbols (almost look like the NZ give-way sign) appear in the bottom right hand corner of the screen?

Any ideas what this may mean? There's about 6 all together that form the shape of a large triangle??

Cheers,

Allan

That sounds pretty weird. Is it on the outside of the screen or on the "inside"? Can you take a picture of it and post it here?

Could you post a picture?

I don't want to cause any undue panic, but it's possible that the graphics chip on your laptop is defective. Quartz Extreme uses the graphics chip's 3D capabilities to render the desktop, and as far as 3D chips are concerned, everything in the world is just a collection of triangles.

But without a picture, it's hard to diagnose whether we're talking about some stray application or a hardware issue.

I was hoping you had a digital camera you could use to take a photo of the screen.

If you're looking for free photo hosting, I recommend Flickr, Photobucket, or ImageShack. Then, just post a link to the image here in the forum.

It looks like you may have posted about this a couple of times, and the admins decided to merge all your posts ("duplicate threads") into one post so all of the discussion about this is in one place.

If it isn't on the "outside", push Shift-Command-3 to take a picture of your entire screen or Shift-Command-4 to take a picture of a particular part of the screen (your cursor will turn into crosshairs and you can drag a box around the part of the screen you want to capture). If it's actually on the "outside" of the screen, you'll need a digital camera.

This one has me puzzled but I'll do my best to help.

That is definitely not a screen problem. That is either some weird vid card problem (unlikely IMHO) or an application is causing that. What applications did you install shortly before this started appearing?

What has me puzzled is it's outside the dock. Looks that way anyway. Can you click on the image? What happens when you do? Can you move it?
