it is probibly not the right way to do this but i was trying to copy over all of the items from my HDD to a external and all i did was click and drag and it says "preparing to copy ####### items" and when i went to stop it it wont let me, why not? i would use time machine but i would have to reformat it and lose all of the items already on the external HDD. What do i do now? please help

ASAP !!!!!!!!!
