I know this is a common thread, but none of the previous posts have solved the problem so . . .

Neither my keyboard nor my trackpad are working. The power button does function however. USB keyboard and mouse work fine. No other problems with the computer. Does anyone know if there is a firmware update that might fix this??
QUOTE Thanks

BTW: I have already switched my old top case out for a brand new one. No change in performance.

You could try running the combo update (I know you are already up to date but it sometimes fixes thinks by freshening up the system)

Apple - Downloads - Mac OS X Updates - Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)

Apple - Downloads - Mac OS X Updates - Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)

If that doesn't fix it I would consider having a look inside, unless it is still under warranty in which case take it to an Apple store
