Hey all,

50% of the time when shutting down my laptop it will log out, then freeze on a blue screen.

After holding down the power button to finally shutdown, I rebooted and the console reads the following:

Dec 19 13:50:22 jonathan-hunters-computer shutdown: halt by Jonathan:
Dec 19 13:50:22 jonathan-hunters-computer SystemStarter[391]: authentication service (399) did not complete successfully
Dec 19 13:50:24 jonathan-hunters-computer SystemStarter[391]: The following StartupItems failed to properly start:
Dec 19 13:50:24 jonathan-hunters-computer SystemStarter[391]: /System/Library/StartupItems/AuthServer

Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Thanks

Boot the machine with your install DVD and run First Aid. Verify the disk and correct any errors that may show up. Keep running Verify until there are no more errors.

Post back if you continue to have the same problem.

Regards.

Hi chscag,

No repairs were necessary according to the first-aid utility. Also, all permissions have been verified and no repairs were necessary there either.

Any other suggestions?

Jonathan
