MacBook - mini DVI to VGA?

Ok so I know apple has the mini DVI to VGA adapter on their site, but is that one compatible with my old black macbook core 2 duo? I read a review by someone who said they had the same macbook and it didn't fit his port, help please

It should fit your black MacBook. That particular adapter fits all MacBook machines which use the mini DVI output port. The new aluminum MacBook model has a mini display port output and requires a different (more $$$) adapter.
