So my laptop is old. I know. Laugh if you want.
I have a 600 mhz Power PC G3. I have upgraded my OS a while back. I have OS 10.4.11. I primarily use the machine to surf the Web, update my little blog and maybe listen to some music. Well, I plugged some USB speakers in a few months back and they didn't work. This was probably in December 2007. I figured it was the speakers. They were cheap. I don't usually need speakers, on board is enough. Well, I wanted to use some in October and I got out my USB speakers. This is a different set. They are powered. No sound. I tried again this weekend with yet a third set, no luck. Yes, I did the System Preferences, audio, USB speakers. They speakers show up, they light up, there is just no sound. If I unplug them, I have sound through the onboard speakers immediately. Someone suggested this was a problem with OS compatibility and my older machine. Well, I'm not incredibly technical so I'm not sure how to go back to an older version of the os. I'm not even sure that would solve my problem. ANY SUGGESTIONS! I suggested a newer laptop to my husband for Christmas but I'm not holding my breath. |
