I currently have the Macbook Pro 2.2ghz 2GB RAM (early 08)

im looking to upgrade to 4GB RAM, and will have no problems installing it

BUT i found this is what i need

4GB kit (2GBx2), 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 upgrades for Apple MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (15.4-inch) Laptop/Notebook, CT687594 from Crucial.com

i've heard crucial is the best ram, and will take me to 4GB at a good price, but looking at my current 2GB (2 1GB sticks) of ram they are at a speed of 667mhz

the crucial ram on the website doesn't have a speed shown, could they be slower than what i currently have? has anyone purchases this ram for the same laptop as mine? did it improve much?

thanks

PC2-5300 gives away the clock speed. Which is 667.
PC2-6400 = 800

I've got the same laptop and bought my 4GB of RAM from OWC at Find the latest Performance Upgrades, Firewire and USB Hard Drives, SATA, Memory, Laptop Battery, and more at OWC . I've had good experiences with them so I would recommend them.

I have these in my MB right now.

Pretty amazing since they are low latency. Nice price on them too. I think I bought these for 160 a few months back. Still worth it though. ^-^"
