My sister and I both got iBook G3s off of eBay at $300 each. First month, her logic board fried (I asked on a different forum and they said this was the problem). I gave her my iBook for school, and now, the same things are happening... the screen flickers, it looks like its melting a bit and just goes all whack then shuts off. My sister is really reluctant to buy another computer, she wants a Mac but she doesn't want to spend $$ for a new one.

Is there a way we can sell the older iBooks or get it working again?

Doubtful on getting them working again. The iBook G3s are known for logic board problems but they are the exception for mac laptops. I would just sell them for parts or if you are willing, take out the HDs of each and use them as backup drives for your next laptop.

Further, I would definitely recommend another mac, but I would suggest either an older Aluminum Powerbook G4 (Titanium has screen Hinge problems), Powerbook G3 (pismo model), or iBook G4 (later models ie. 1.0, 1.2, 1.33ghz). These are better known for their quality and by these models Apple has worked out all the kinds that often occur with Revision A models like the iBook G3 and Titanium Powerbook G4.

I have an old Powerbook G3 that is still working after 10 years, and I had a iBook G4 1.2ghz that ran great until I sold it about a year ago. Apple does have quality products, you just had some bad luck.

You can always but the two broken iBook's on ebay. People will most likely purchase them for parts or what not.

i'd sell the ibooks on ebay...You'd be surprised how much you can get for them...just make sure you FULLY LIST EVERY PROBLEM IT HAS, or a buyer has the right to get a refund if you leave out one little thing. I disagree with strim, and I suggest you get a Titanium Powerbook. For $200 you can get a laptop that will outperform the iBooks you had and be a million times more reliable.

Yes my name is Jaguar.
No, it is not a joke.
I don't find your "I'm a cheetah." joke funny.

They are fine as long as the hinge works. I was pointing out all the well known problems with certain mac laptops. Also, iBook G4s are quite reliable and I would like to know where to get a powerbook G4 (not broken) for 200$. They usually go for twice that here and on ebay.
