MacBook - Which Macbook? New user here and need advice, Hello everybody.

Looking at my first Macbook coming from a PC background so I need some advice. This is what I'm looking at used:

1)Macbook base model 2.0Ghz,80gb HDD, 3gb RAM, new condition, and I mean spotless, includes everything but the box. Price is $500

2)Macbook 2.4Ghz, 160gb HDD, 2gb RAM, bought in September '08 and comes with a Best Buy 2 year warranty, box and everything included. $800.

I like the specs on the 2.4Ghz Macbook but is it worth $300 more? I am on a tight budget but can swing the $300 if the system is a lot faster. Sorry I know nothing about speed and Macbooks. Looking further at specs the 2.4Ghz has the newer Intel GMA X3100 card vs the Intel GMA 950, again not sure if it makes a difference or not. Also the 2.4Ghz has the 800Mhz bus vs the 677Mhz bus.

I would go with the faster processor, simple because that is the one of the things that can't be upgraded once you buy it. The video card is also something you can't upgrade. Everything else is pretty easy to upgrade.

I understand that you can't upgrade the processor but is the a big difference in speed between the 2.0Ghz vs 2.4Ghz and the 667 vs 800 bus speed? I offered $700 but he's firm at $800.

Mac Specs: Macbook 2.14ghz || 120GB || IPHONE 3G 8GB JBken 4GB RAM || <3
I say, go with the 2.4ghz. You will notice it in the long run, and when moving folders, editing movies, and overall performance.

And the integrated graphics is crap anyways, so having the x1300 integrated will get you better of then the GMA950...

And crimson is right; The CPU and GPU are two things in which cannot be upgraded in the future, unlike the RAM. Keep your upgrading options open, so you don't bottleneck yourself in the future.

So once again, i say you pay the extra, and set yourself with a great notebook for a long while

Good Luck
