I need to be able to dual monitor with my macbook. I know this is possible with a projector or external display. But i now have another macbook that is not being used, and I was wondering if I could connect the two with firewire, usb, or any other way in order to use the screen of the second macbook as the dual monitor for the first one.

No this is not possible without using this, which uses VLC to connect to another computer over your network. Personally I do not find this to be a viable solution as it is too slow to be useful.
