I went to Crucial.com to check on a memory price.

Both of them are 512MB DDR266 PC2100 200-pin SODIMM.

First one is CT6464X265 for $97.99

http://www.crucial.com/store/PartSpe...64X265&cat=RAM

Second one is CT372707 for $142.13

http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartsp...&WSPN=CT372707

This is the first time I am upgrading a memory on my iBook.

To me it seems that both memories are identical.

So I sent an email about this and this was their response:

>Hello,

>Thank you for your email. Unfortunately your Apple iBook will require the
>base part number CT6464X265AP in order to function correctly. Apple
>products have special specification in order for the memory modules to be
>compatible with there product lines. Crucial technology acknowledges this
>and has complied with Apple. The base part number CT6464X265AP is
>specifically designed for the Apple iBooks.
>

Do you think I should use more expensive identical memory?
