MacBook Pro - Hard disk

I have a question about the setting, "Put the hard disks to sleep whenever possible". What does it take for this to happen? If I look at my HD in iStat menus, my HD is always reading or writing. In order to maximize battery life, I used MacPilot to change the time value to 3 minutes instead of 10. What does it mean by Sleep (wall) and Sleep (battery)?

If someone could clear this up for me, I'd be most appreciative.

Thanks!

Sleep (wall) and Sleep (battery) are the settings for when it will sleep while plugged in (wall) and while mobile (battery). You will probably want a more conservative (shorter idle time to sleep) while on battery than while plugged in.
