MacBook Pro - CD/DVD burner won't read!!

HEy everyone...my 1 year warranty on my MBP expires next week, so I'm gonna take it to the apple store this week, but I figured I'd ask here first. My dvd player reads dvds fine...but when I try to burn a CD (tried data and music) it doesn't read the disc and sends it back out ...any ideas?

have you tried one of those cd/dvd lens cleaner disks?
