I'm looking at a used G4 ibook that is advertised with 1.33GHz and a 30GB hard drive. As far as I can tell, the 12" 1.33GHz models came with 60GB drives.

Would this indicate the drive has been swapped on this laptop?

Yes 60GB was the standard so it would be a pretty safe bet the HDD has either failed, or exchanged by owner to retain the larger drive.

30GB is simply not enough HDD space and you will be looking to upgrade so check out prices before you buy.
