MacBook - Have 2GB Want 4GB RAM

Hello all. I am new to these boards. I have my brand new (3 wk old) Macbook and I love it. I did not even bother to put Windows for Mac on it. I am ALL Mac.

I assumed,

that when I ordered the 2GB RAM laptop that I would just open up the cover throw in 2 more gigs and I would be GTG. Surprise surprise!!!

I was at the Apple store here in NJ and made inquiry regarding doing just that, when the rep told me that I would have to buy 4 gigs to get to the configuration that I wanted.

Where can I get the 4 GBs that I need that are of good quality and reasonably priced? I can do the install myself, I have done it on my PC and work laptop already.

crucial and owc are two good sources for quality ram that is affordable

I hear crucial is very high recommended on these forums and is brought up a lot in these types of posts.

Check the Macbook model there though, I took a guess at your clock speed and Macbook model.

Many thanks to Zoolook, Bman, and sanity1082. I was at BestBuy today and they are having a sale on Kingston 2GB for 109.00. Still does not beat 103.00 for 4GB from Crucial.

Another vote for Crucial, my GSkill memory went bad and Crucial has been supporting me ever since.

I am with Crucial on this one. I will be upgrading to 2GB. I like Newegg.com, but these 2 1GB sticks are cheaper than in Newegg.
