lately ive noticed that my cpu fan has been turning on a lot sooner, and a lot more often that it has been in the past. Whenever it turns on, i notice considerable slowing of performance on my pb. I have the CPU setting turned to highest, and i have 1.2gb of ram so I dont know what the problem could be.. suggestions?

Perhaps because the CPU is set to highest? IMO it's usually best on Automatic.

Other than that, perhaps try restarting it?

sounds like the CPU is throttling itself down (happens when it gets hot) and your performence will get crushed by this. Like couldane said turn your CPU speed to automatic and if the problem persits hit up apple
