Alright I'll keep it simple, I'm thinking about going into mulitmedia productions as a career so its probably for sure that I'm getting the 15in/$1999 MBP. I'll be using it for mainly music software and college with some video and some games. I just need to buy it with as little financial strain as possible. I'm heading into college this fall so I'm eligible for the education discount but do you have to buy the ipod or touch? I just need the laptop cheap as possible.

One other thing, what about refurbished MBPs? I heard about the new operating system on 08' thats why Im not buying an older model.

Any advice or comments about anything I'd appreciate it. Thank you

I could be mistaken here but as far as I know you do not have to buy the iPod - it's just a perk if you do want it.

Regarding Refurbs - they are a good buy for sure - my MB is a refurb and I've never been happier with any of my previous computers.

All of the refurbs will now come with Leopard so you'll have the latest OS if you go for the refurb just as you would if you went for a new machine.

so is the discount just free ipod/touch? I think I read somewhere that theres an additional 15% off or something like that. I checked everywhere it seems but I only saw the free (what I dont friggin need!) promotion

You pay for the ipod touch, and get a 300 dollar rebate, and also you can get any printer you want, and you get 100 dollars off that. (free 100 dollar printer)

If you can cough up the money up front, just get the ipod and sell it if you don't want it.
