Unit134679 is on a distinguished road
Mac Specs: iMac C2D | 2.66 GHz | 2GB RAM | 300GB HDD | OSX 10.6.2

When my MBP (OSX 10.4.11) is running on battery supply it turns off without warning when approximately half the battery is depleted. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this problem. Suggestions? I also have all the latest software updates via Software Update

Unit134679,

Have you calibrated your battery lately? if not, maybe calibration would allow it to predict it's useful time more accurately.

Check it out here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...en/mh2339.html

Good luck, Noel

I tried to calibrate it but it shuts off about 50% and won't deplete without it hibernating like it should. I did however see what could look like an expanded battery but doesn't actually bulge like the batteries I've seen on the web.

Unit,

Could be a bad battery or at least on the way to bad... Seems to be a MBP problem these days... If it's new, I'd call Apple and complain, tell them what you told us and see if they'll give you a new battery.

Did you ever solve this problem? I have something similar, although my shutdown occurs only at low battery
