I have a 12 inch iBook G4.

A few weeks ago, I plugged in my laptop and the power meter said it was charging then it said it was running off the battery, and then charging again, and then battery, and so on.

I figured it was the DC In board so I ordered a new one. The new one, when connected to the ac adapter, does nothing. If I angle the connector, it will start charging.

For these first two DC In Boards, the AC Adaptor colored ring will light up.

I figured that it was ANOTHER faulty DC in board so I bought ANOTHER one. This one powers the computer but does not charge the battery. And on top of that, the colored ring on the AC adapter doesn't turn on at all.

HELP! Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I'm far past desperate.

I'm starting to think its the Logic Board. If so, is it worth taking in for diagnostics or do I claim my iBook as a lost cause?

Note: When the second DC In Board didn't work, I bought a new power cord. When the third DC IN Board acted funny, I bought a new battery. No success.

It could be a faulty battery too and this is easy to check if you can try your batter on someone else's or their battery on yours. I had a similar problem as yours on an old Compaq M300 (with the daftest looking battery in laptop history >>>> go on image search it on ebay!)

Experienced computer user, applications programmer and component level service engineer but came to the Apple platform with intro of intel!. Pro-photographer and director of electronics company.
