When I boot up my Mac with Vista, it all runs fine, but there's no sound and the headphone port has a red light glowing in it.
This light doesn't apear when I boot it up with Mac OS X and it even has sound in OS X.
Why is there no sound in Vista? And what does that red lght mean?

Are you sure you are talking about a MacBook? As far as I am concerned, the red light seems to be the digital audio output for fibre optic connection (available on the MacBook Pros).

right now every apple computer model (except the MBA) has a combined headphone/optical digital audio output jack...

hmmmmm, then his MacBook's digital output may have been accidentally turned on thereby not emitting analogue signal. I guess a PRAM reset will fix this issue.

I had this red light problem too, after installing Vista via bootcamp, I think it went away,

Did you install the drivers??

I'll check if it still there after I'm done downloading.

Well I just restarted and booted into Vista, and No red light, so I think if you install the drivers you will get sound and the red light will go away.

And right after I looked at the audio jack, came here, logged in to respond, and then the blue screen of death took over, oh why do i even try with Vista?!
