can you mix and match memory?

i am sure this has been covered before, but i have searched and didnt exactly come up with a definitive answer...sometimes you just dont search hard enough

i was looking to upgrade my 15" powerbook with 1.0ghz processor and 512 ram....

question: can i use a 1.0GB stick with a 256 stick???

i have never done this on a mac before but i think i remember on pc's you needed to use two matching sticks

TIA

No you can not. The maximum amount of ram for your computer is 1 GB (2 sticks of 512)
