Will Apple be able to implement the multi touch track pad feature with a firmware update?

at first people thought they would, but after some investigation i believe it was discovered that multi touch requires a specific chip in the trackpad, so no luck there...

What exactly is multitouch? I hear it thrown around all the time. Could someone explain it to me? Thanks!

Multi touch means you can zoom in and out, rotate pictures etc all on the track pad.

Shame it can't be done, would have been another cool feature on my Pro.

Definitely been a cool feature to play around with on the new mbp. It sucks that it only works with Safari though. Hopefully it will be compatible with Firefox soon.
