MacBook - Screen Issue, Please Help

Hey I have a question about my Macbook. I got it in July, and when I opened it today when I got back to my dorm, There was a semicircle-like patch on the bottom of the screen where everything is lighter in color and there are little dark patches. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks.

From what you described it sounds like the LCD has failed.
