I have an older G5 (2004 ish) running 10.4.9 on a Dual 2.0gig

Lately when I have been burning DATA DVD s with Toast 6.1 they will write fine will mount from Toast but when I eject the disk and reinsert it to check it, it won't mount. I burned several disks (Sony 1x-8x) both in mac/pc and mac only format
none mounted (later tried them in my friend's new G5 and all mounted). Funny that several retail disks, ie protools plugin demos etc. mount.

Anyway I'm assuming a failing DVD drive.
The current unit is a pioneer dvd rw 106d

Could anyone suggest a replacement that will fit the bay properly.

Or could this be a software issue, I'm a recent convert from PC and do not know what OS issues might be in play

Thankyou
Bryan

Installed a Pioneer 115 DL burner and upgraded to Toast 8.0.3. Speed is unbelievable. Pioneer are real cheap in Australia. Got mine for $39 and installed it myself.

Only problem was the power cable - struth it was tight.

Mac Sales
I bought the Pioneer from Mac Sales and it works fine. It is pretty cheap compared to other Mac SuperDrives.
