Hi there,
I'm pretty new here, so tell me If I'm at the wrong place to post this ;-) Now I recently bought a new Imac 24"inch alu with Leopard on it. Specs: -2,4 ghz Intel Core Duo 2 -2 gb 667 DDR2 SDRAM -Ati Radeon HD 2600 -320 HD Pretty much the standard configuration Apple offers. Now after setting up my workspace, installing programs, placing my files and docs in the rights spots I'd thought I'd give the mac a go at its game capacity. So I borrowed AoE III, installed it and started to play. And blimey! I got a bit disappointed. Looking back on my system specs I would have thought my system could play the game on its full capacity. The setting I was aiming for was "Shader Quality; high quality". But it only gave me high instead. Is this for example something my videocard can do?: ![]() Soo...is this like indeed the best which this machine can handle, or is this system pretty much f(#)cked up? (my apologies for my language )Hope to hear from anyone soon! Sincerely, Gio Last edited by urizen85; 02-06-2008 at 04:27 AM. |

The ATI Radeon HD 2600 is the middle of the line for the 2xxx series. ATI's model numbers usually go something like:
x3xx - Basic desktop graphics x6xx - Mid level 3D Performance x8xx - Performance Gaming Card I would call it a "casual" gamer video card. Good enough for most, but definety not top of the line. -MikeM |

I'm a bit confused by your question though. Is the problem with the settngs you can choose, or the framerate? I don't understand "The setting I was aiming for was "Shader Quality; high quality". But it only gave me high instead. " Are you running the Mac or Windows version of AOE3? |

Yeah sorry ' bout that....was a bit confusing indeed ![]() Ehmmm, the problems is with the settings. I'm running the mac version of the game... The setting I was hoping to put it on the highest level is: - Shader Quality > which is then set on " very high" However, my computer only gives me "high" and I cant see the setting "very high". So...is this indeed the max this computer can handle or is there something wrong? if so, how can I fix this? |
