Hello,

So i have been back and forth, upgrading vs. buying a mini, and right now i think i might just hold out on both. Not sure though. I'm just wondering if I would be able to but a Quicksilver CPU in my Dual 533 DA?
Is there like a Dual 1ghz upgrade? ANyone found some good deals on some Dual CPU upgrades?

Also, how much of a speed boost will i see while just playing around in OSX if i bump my ram from 896MB to 1.5GB?

Thanks,
Tanner.

I will do some checking to be sure but I am pretty certain you can not use a CPU out of a Quicksilver in a Digital Audio. Will also check around for a Dual 1Ghz for your machine. I have that same machine but mine was a single 667. I upgraded to a Single Giga Designs 1.8Ghz G4. It's very fast but I would have rather had a Dual if I had the $$$ at the time.

Edit: It can be made to work. Read this URL carefully. I personally think you should go after an even faster after market upgrade as it will drop right in. Looking now to see what I can find.

Tanner I guess it comes down to the price of say 1.25 or 1.42GHz DP MDD Macs. In the States they are very reasonably priced and with faster bus speed would be better than an upgrade card.

To give you some idea, here in Australia 867MHz bring about the $500, 1.25Ghz DP around the $700 and those rare birds, known as hens teeth, the 1.42DP asking prices begin about $1,200.00.

You can see upgrade cards become much more of an option.

Oh, good point harry, I could always trade up for a MDD or QuickSilver PowerMac instead.
Hmm, interesting. I'm gonna go check some prices, just for curiosity sake.
