sleep issues when using apc backupWhen my computer goes to sleep, it doesn't wake up from a move of the mouse or hitting a key.
It used to before I plugged in an apc backup unit.
Now, I have to hit the power button to wake it up and it does, but sometimes the bluetooth utility will open and look to connect a bluetooth mouse.
Why is this happening?

What you are experiencing is very similar to that of machines using a PCI card of some description - having to hit the power button (quickly) to wake from sleep does sometimes cause Bluetooth connectivity problems.
Perhaps your back up operates in a similar manner?

I have installed a sonnet usb pci card in my machine because I needed some extra usb ports.
Perhaps that could be the issue. I have that into slot#3.
I don't mind hitting the power button to wake it up, as long as it is ok and there won't be any further issue down the road.
Should I try to move the pci card to another slot?
I really can't put it on the one next to the video card because it would be too tight of a squeeze for air flow, but there is the slot at the very top.

PCI cards are infamous for sleep problems.
Perhaps a powered USB hub might be the go, something like this one which is Mac compatible:-

Hi Harry,
Thanks for the post.
I did some digging, and sure enough, the pci card does have issues.
What I did was unplug the keyboard and media reader usb from the pci card and plugged that into the computer, and put my printers into the pci card, because they are usually off anyway.
Now I can wake from sleep by a key touch or mouse.
I didn't know about this issue before. Thank you.

Ahh!
Rule Number One - always plug the keyboard into the computer's original USB connection, mouse into keyboard and other things can use the hub.
