    Specs:
    24" iMac 2.8 GHZ/2GB/320GB/Leopard
    Ram install issue
I upgraded my late 2006 intel Imac to 3gb today. First it only showed the 2gb ram and said the other slot was empty when it really has 1gb in it. So I made sure they were in the same slots properly and restarted and now it shows only the 1gb ram sticks and not the 2gb stick??? When I upgraded to 1.5gb a few weeks ago I had no issues what so ever on the same machine...Any input would be much appreciated...Thanks

    G'day there.

Have you got the manual for your machine?

From memory (which is getting old lol) Intel iMacs require matched pairs of RAM which may be why your are seeing 2GB and not 3. Pair up the odd 1GB to show 4.

Matched is recommended but not necessary. I'm guessing you aren't fully inserting the RAM into the slots.

I have them in as far as I can push them. Apple told me that the late 2006 imac can be matched or not matched...OWC is sending new ram just in case...

Got it fixed. Guess I had to push the sticks in harder than I thought...LOL
