New firmware update (09-27-07) -- Safe?
Another firmware update is available and again it promises to fix the fans in our Mac Pros. It also is supposed to fix a few boot camp issues (probably the weird clock behavior, etc). Check your Software Update is this is new news to you.

I will let you guys update your machines first and tell me if if makes the fans even louder or what kinds of crazy unexpected broken things happen.

    17 inch 2 GHz C2D imac (5,1) with 3GB DDR2 RAM, X1600 (128MB memory) GPU - OSX 10.6.3
I did it on my imac about 2 hours ago and the only difference post the update for me is my hard drive dan is on average 1-3 rpm faster all the time. Now running at (not under a heave load which in 95% of the time) 1200-1203 rpm.
