you start with a bic lighter, unless it's a DL DVD then you will need a zippo...

Just kidding, burned my first DVD on a Mac for my iTouch on Saturday!

Get handbrake http://handbrake.m0k.org/?article=download and burn away. There is an online quick reference guide on the site.

Very simple instructions and very easy to do

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1Cor 1:18

There is no app that will rip a DVD and burn them.
Do a little searching on the forum. It's been asked a million and a half times. If you can't find anything, there's a reason: it's illegal.
