Hi everyone,

So i just bought a PowerMac digital audio (dual 533) off of ebay for $219 (which i thought was a really good deal),and its not here yet, and the auction doesnt show a picture of the specific one im getting and the listing doesnt say if it has a modem or not, but still with the money im saving on the Mac i could buy a modem and still be under my budget.

So im just wondering if they all come with modems or is it possible if it does not have a modem in it?

I have TONS of old modems lying around, and i dont think they will work because they all say gateway on them, but i do have an older Creative Modem Blaster, can this work somehow?

Any recomendations on where i could get a modem?
Thanks,
Tanner.

It was optional for that PowerMac. You'll just have to wait and see if yours has one or not.
I am not sure about the card. I've never tried putting a PCI card for PC's in a Mac. Check for an installer or drivers from the creative website. I would think a few companies make a USB 56k modem. I believe Apple makes one for the Macbooks, so it might work on the PowerMac. I think it is around $50.
Nice find on the dual 533MHz.

Both say that all DA models come with a 56K modem.

Well, i got it today,
And it has no modem,
so he could have taken it out, but theres still the metal covering over it.
Also, it has a 40GB hard drive instead of the 20GB he advertised. yay for me.

Hey all,

So i recently got my PowerMac in the mail today, havent turned it on yet, but it looks nice.
And it has no modem,
my question is if i put an old modem out of a PC (its a creative modem blaster model DI3631-1, to see if it works, could i harm my mac?

Thanks,
Tanner.

Apple flat out states the DA came with a modem. I have seen some remove the modem and install that cover. I have a spare one here. You can find one on Ebay. That pic looks just like it.

It will not harm it but unless there are drivers for OSX it just won't work. I will check around and see if there is any OSX support for it.
