What does it mean when I see a Finder folder during startup....before it goes to the Apple logo and then hangs?

Thanks!

If the folder is flashing a ? then it means it can't find the start up disk, basically saying the HD is going out.

What the above poster said. either that, orrr that happened to me when i accidentally dragged the System folder into the trash (don't ask how).

So, either you deleted a system file, or the HD is dying. Try formatting and reinstalling, if you can.
