Hello all! I recently bought an iMac G3, 400Mhz, Orange and I wish to turn it into a little TV if I can. I know ElGato makes some tv tuners, but I'm not sure which ones are compatible with the G3. I think the EyeTv 200 does, but I don't know how well it would work. Anyone have any experience or good ideas? ElGato's website won't load here for some reason, otherwise I'd check with them. Thanks for any ideas!

![]() I've got no issues with any elgato product. Picture is great even when using a cheap antenna. The picture is actually better than that but it looks fuzzy because I froze it to takea screen shot Don't forget to use the new User Reputation System |

Sweet, but will anything of theirs work with the imac G3? I know the 250 doesn't for sure, not sure about the hybrid or any of the other models. I'll just be using normal cable. They don't seem to have the most well organized site. Thanks!

You would probably need the EyeTV 200. All of the current models are USB 2.0 (which I don't think your iMac G3 will have). The 200 is firewire and requires Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher, 256MB memory, 2GB free hard drive space, QuickTime 6.4

Woot! I found one that works quite well. It's called the myTV/fm and it works with g3 and g4. If anyone is interested this link:
https://usm.channelonline.com/rtech/...?id=M001547194 Sells them for a reasonable price. Other places want about 150+ for them, but this sells it for 17 plus shipping. Not a bad deal. I got it working with freevo and myth tv (using OSX) and a remote. Good stuff! Hope this helps anyone else who wants a g3 entertainment center. Trent out |

Yes, very weird. But the rest of the site is fine and they have a good seller rating. I'm guessing they just have these in bulk and noone wants them anymore. They are made for the g3...not many people use those anymore. They could also be open box products, or maybe r-tech just doesn't know what they are! Haha, either way they work and are cheap.
Trent out Also, they have the manufacturer part # listed as 801 which is what the tv tuner part number actually is. The mytv lists as 800 and the mytv/fm as 801. EDIT!
My friend just tried to order one of those for himself. They e-mailed him back thanking him for his order, but that the part number did not match up with their inventory. Guess they figured it out. God Bless!Trent out |
