iMac - how come on the 24 inch imac the videocard is weaker than the 17 and 20 inch models?

gpureview.com, it isn't just about VRAM, that is a very small part of the overall performance of a videocard. Go to the compare cards section and compare the x1600 to the 7300 gt.

There is barely any difference in performance between the base models according to gpureview and when you upgrade them the 7600 crushes the X1600 with 256mb.
