I have a dual 1 Ghz PowerMac. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the old slow superdrive with a new DVR-111 Dual Layer burner. The new drive worked great, for about 5 days.
Then it stopped burning in the middle of a disc. I ejected the disc and put in another, it couldn’t read the disc. I tried another disc, nothing. I tried a prerecorded disc, nothing.
System Profiler “sees” the drive but the drive doesn't “see” the media. So I took it out and sent it back, and bought a DVR-109 burner. Same thing happened. I installed it Tuesday and the thing just died on me. Same symptoms. I put the original drive back in - all is well.
Anybody have any idea what’s going on?
