iMac - graphical differences?

I am quite surpirsed that the Nvidia 7300gt outguns the ati radeon x1600 on the imacs. It seems the ati chip should be better. Any thoughts as to why this is?

What are the specs of the two? That should give you the answer.

i thought the nvidia card was faster and had 256mb of memory instead of 128mb.

The 7300gt has 128mb of ram and the x1600 has 128mb of ram. Yet the nvidia card does better. I was just surprised because the x1600 seemed to be ati's midrange chip and the 7300 nvidia's lower range chip. But whatever works i guess.
