no, he upgraded from a 700mhz imac to a 800mhz imac. he sold his other imac for around 900. and bought a mac for around 900, so he upgraded for less than 100$. I think thats a sweet deal.

Is it considerably faster than a 700MHz with 256MB of RAM?
I'm trying to gather some info before buying a new iMAC. I really like the new 17" FP iMAC with SuperDrive but I don't have enough money for that. So I'm now looking into an eMAC with SuperDrive or an iMAC 15" FP. They basically have the same specs but I like the stylish design of the iMAC. What do you think?

Thanks.

eMac is nice... any iMac is better (or so i think).
i have a 15'' iMac.. I see no need for a 17''.. and my iBook is going to be the 12''.. when do you plan on buying this mac? now.. couple months... late summer...?

The 17" iMac is awesome. A lot more screen real estate. I would wait until June though and see if they release the new chips before buying something.

Thanks guys. My MAC-fanatic friend also told me to wait until June or July. I'm planning to buy it next month but I'm really not in a hurry. I agree that the iMAC design is really cool but unfortunately I don't have enough money for that. I mean, I'm squeezing the most of my money for a 'good' MAC. Let's just say that if I'm going to buy a MAC this year, I'm planning not to upgrade to another MAC for the next 3, 4 or probably 5 years. I really don't know anything about the MAC but I've heard many times that even the older models of MAC can still run MAC OS X. Is this true?
Simply put, this is a sort of investment for me so I'm really gathering as many facts as possible before I finally decide which MAC to buy.
