iMac - iMac DV+ - DVD upgrade?

Let's go old-school here...I am looking at picking up an old iMac DV+ (Ruby) G3 computer and I want to upgrade the optical drive. I'm assuming it can use a standard slimline sloatload DVD drive; I plan on putting a Pioneer DVR-K06 drive in it:

Any special upgrade notes? Does it need a sled or can I just replace the existing drive?

I doubt that works, I really doubt it. How do you plan on converting a computer with a slot load to a tray load?
