modem busy dial tone

ello

i have a old beige g3 im using os 8.0 and im tryin to connect to the net using aol 3 but i keep getting a busy dial tone after it dials the number. i know the numbers work bcos i use them on my windows pc. anyone have any suggestions i would b grateful
