super drive in powermac quad question
Hey I have a powermac quad as you all probabaly know by now.. I be asking myself and answring myself if I was not 6000 miles away from my computer. but i do remember when I am in dvd studio pro on that computer it asks me if I want to burn a a disc with a blue lazer or a red one. Does this mean I can burn blu-ray discs?
(burn on one of these http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs...00000000005702)
or does this mean that the computer can do it if I buy an additional burner?

red lazer is regular DVD - maybe the program you have is already geared toward Blu-Ray but you don't have the drive yet? There are rumors that the new PMs can handle them. Not really sure.

I guess I will try it when I get home, I will order a disc for 21 dollars just for the experiment, and I will let you know how that goes unless somebody else here has already tried this because I won't be home for a week or more..

    Cool
I just saw that last night as I was working in DVD Studio. I believe that when the Blue ray burner arrives that the application will be ready to use it. I would save your money and wait for both the media to come down in price. I thnk that is a little bit much for experimentation, but that is me.

thats true.. but I very much want to be able to offer high deffinition dvd's for weddings and other events when I film them. Standard dual layer discs just do not allow you to do that with out it being a short video.

It would be good to have the option as you stated, but the audience for that format will be small in the beginning. I believe that Sony will install blue ray burners in its PS3. To just start the market. Apple may install them in the new Mac Pro line, when every it comes out.
