I've been having trouble trying to install OSX on a G3 Imac. When I try to boot off cd it crashes and when I try to install from the cd after its booted in OS9 it give me an error message that says "Startup disk was unable to select the install cd as the startup disk (-2)." OS9 and the firmware are all updated.

Put in the OSX CD and turn it on, once you hear the chime, hold down the Option Key. It will come to a blue screen and it will show any bootable drives, including bootable CDs. If the OSX CD doesn't come up, then either your drive is bad or the CD is corrupt. If both are good, then it should go right into the setup.
